Mike Walters, LPC
Mind Body Health
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia since 2016. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from Regent University. My Bachelor of Science degree is from Longwood University in Psychology. My clinical focus is primarily the use of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), an evidence based practice that incorporates skills into therapy to help individuals focus more in the moment, regulate emotions, learn to increase tolerance, and improve interpersonal skills. However, I fully believe in meeting the client where they are and therefore it is equally important for me to be flexible to your needs.
I have a passion for connecting with clients and helping them to achieve their therapy goals. I want therapy to be a safe, non-judgmental space to allow someone to process their thoughts and feelings, while obtaining skills needed for success and wellness. I have worked in a variety of settings to include intensive in-home services, psychiatric inpatient, and crisis stabilization and providing counseling to adults with mental health and substance use concerns. I have been working in outpatient therapy since 2013.
When I am not in the office, I am spending time with my wife and two children. I love to be outside, riding bikes, hiking, going to the beach, along with listening to music and of course watching sports.
