Dr. Turnewitsch received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine in 2019 from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA and recently graduated from his two-year residency at both the Yellowstone Naturopathic Clinic and SCL Health St. Vincent’s Cancer Centers of Montana in Billings, MT where he worked collaboratively with multiple providers in serving a broad array of patients. Prior to attending naturopathic medical school at Bastyr, Dr. Turnewitsch has an academic background in the biological sciences including broad laboratory research experience.

Dr. Turnewitsch’s residency included advanced training in Naturopathic Oncology, a specialized branch of naturopathic medicine focused on evidence-informed, safe, effective natural and supportive therapies used in combination with conventional treatments for integrative cancer care. Having completed his residency, he is eligible to begin pursuit of formal board certification in Naturopathic Oncology which he will be doing in the coming years while providing these valuable services to the patients in southeastern Virginia.

In addition to his training in Naturopathic Medicine, Dr. Turnewitsch has also been formally trained in Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) and is currently on course to become IFM Certified in Functional Medicine in the next two years. He understands that the principles and practices of both Naturopathic and Functional Medicine seamlessly blend and overlap to provide a truly extraordinary combination of holistic patient care, and he looks forward to continuing to deepen his knowledge in both areas.

As well, Dr. Turnewitsch has a deep passion for the field of Mind-Body Medicine and is Board Certified in Biofeedback through the BCIA, Biofeedback Certification International Alliance. Dr. Turnewitsch deeply believes that addressing the mental, emotional, and behavioral aspects of our health is essential if we are to achieve complete wellness. In this capacity, Dr. Turnewitsch also works collaboratively with the providers in REBOOT Mind-Body Health to provide our patients with Biofeedback services.

Dr. Turnewitsch also has extensive experience in regenerative orthopedic care and regenerative joint injection therapies specifically including prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma therapies, and stem cell solution therapies. Providing these services was a large part of his residency allowing him to repeatedly witness the truly amazing therapeutic benefits these therapies offer patients with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Turnewitsch is actively involved in his profession through participation with IFM, the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP), American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), and now the Virginia Association of Naturopathic Physicians (VAANP). He also enjoys serving his local community through health outreach programs done through his church. Outside of the office Dr. Turnewitsch is an outdoor enthusiast, avid hiker, nature photographer, golfer, reader, public speaker, and devoted Christian who is passionate about the intersection between spiritual, mental/emotional, and physical health.
