Shannon Kleinman DACM, L.Ac.

Functional Health Care

Shannon is a Diplomate of Acupuncture certified by The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), licensed by the California Board of Acupuncture, the Virginia Board of Medicine, and the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners. She holds a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine earned from the Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, California. Shannon has extensive training in Eastern Medicine: acupuncture, orthopedic acupuncture, Eastern Herbal Medicine, moxibustion therapy, cupping, Tui-Na, and Eastern and Western nutrition.

During Shannon's internship at the San Diego Cancer Research Institute in Encinitas, California she became passionate about integrative medicine. She has compassion and understands the many difficulties that a person faces undergoing cancer treatment along with the issues that surrounding loved ones endure. Since becoming a mom of two, and the difficulties each pregnancy presented, Shannon has focused her practice in women’s health. Through her experiences and countless talks with other women who faced their own difficulties, she feels it is her purpose to support, educate, and advocate for women struggling with fertility or those who need to have their voices and medical choices heard.

It is Shannon’s mission to help her clients engage the mind, nourish the body, and awaken the spirit. She believes everybody holds the key to their own healing, but sometimes the body needs a little extra help and that’s where her services come in. As an experienced acupuncturist, she integrates a range of therapies to prevent and treat disease and promote optimal health. In her free time, Shannon loves being with her husband, two kiddos, and two German Shepherds and can often be seen out mountain biking in Back Bay.
